This 4 oz wonder comes in a beautiful lightweight cobalt blue BPA-free PET jar which has time tested through the most extreme of travel and shoving conditions without spilling or breakage. It may separate in extreme conditions a bit, but just leave it like that and keep using it; you will see it has not lost integrity; this is often happening in those messy squeeze tubes but you can't see it.

Expect your children to love it. I often ask children at camping events why they line up in the morning excited for my sunblock. These are some of the common answers:

"It doesn't sting my eyes." (#1 answer)

"It smells good!"

"I like the way it feels." (probably the cooling effect)

"War Paint!"  (The artistic can really have fun with this.)

THey don't think about it, but parent's who struggle with hourly sunscreen round-up and wrestle-in notice the absolutely freeing effect of the long lasting concentrated wear. In the ocean you will need to reapply every couple hours because salt does eat at the formula. However, in the lakes, rivers, hotsprings, deserts, mountains, back yard, sprinklers, urban streets, applying three times on the longest sun days would be excessive. If we've been in the sun all day long and plan to be there the rest of the day, we re-apply just once: between 2 and 4 pm.  If you are more conscious all day, you can simply wait until you are burning and apply it immediately (that means carry it with you just in case (it is travel-delightful.  Children's skin should be dry before applying.

  • Recycle the jars, they are not useful afterwards except in recycle.

They will last the year, but may separate so it looks watery (that is aloe and essential oils), but still be fresh. If you find a jar that is three years old and unopened, it is safe to say the SPF has mostly worn out and possibly the oils have gone rancid; it's worth ordering a new one. Howver, at two years unopened you may have a season left with it; use your senses and experiment.

If it gets black spots in it, or smells rancid, it is done.

  • Aloe Vera Leaf (organic when possible); Non-nano-particle cosmetic-grade Zinc Oxide; Seasame & Grapeseed oils; Local permacultured beewax; Alaffia Shea Butter: organic essential oils of Lavender, peppermint, and orange; & extract of organic grapefruit seeds.

    Aloe: Coolant, sun-repair, collagen booster

Zinc: Sun Blocker. No other natural substance has this power and doesn't add toxins to the body. In fact, zinc detoxes the body, including the skin and lymph. Titanium dioxide is "natural," and toxic to the wearer. Things like carrot seed, coconut oil, pumpkin seed, and raspberry leaf (included in sunscreen & tanning oils bySarLight) do not have half the power of zinc and are often mies-representing what they are actually doing to the skin and how effective they are against UVs.
